College Deans
Starting Out, Inc. has been developed to provide practical guides to life decision-making for college students who are planning their transition to the working world, as well as for military service personnel transitioning to civilian life.
Our goal is to encourage college deans and instructors to consider ordering bulk copies of the National Edition of Starting Out! or a specific State Edition for classroom and seminar use. State Editions are especially useful for community and state colleges where most of the students come from the same state. The National Edition, which is not state-specific, is directed at students attending private colleges and universities with national student populations. They can then visit the website and click on the career resources offered by any state.
The Web site, www.startingout.com, contains all 80 chapters of the Starting Out Book, along with direct links to hundreds of extra resources at the end of each chapter, under “Digging Deeper.”
In addition, there are four other special web sections:
The State Selector directs the visitor to the best career resources in any state. Our editors have provided annotated entries for each type of resource, ranging from every state agency involved with occupations and training, educational resources in the state, state financial aid, non-profit organization assistance, statistical sources, and many other useful resources.
The Career Finder provides detailed information, along with the best web resources, on more than 200 occupations.
The Benefits Locator helps young people find more than 1,000 federal benefit and assistance programs, military benefits, and financial aid.The Federal Information Index covering every possible topic, with hyperlinks to the relevant government agency or program.
As founder of Starting Out, Inc., I wish to invite college deans, instructors, and guidance counselors to contact me at dan@startingout.com to indicate their interest in obtaining bulk pricing for national or state editions of Starting Out!
